Bond 23 title announced, shooting details and cast confirmed

Daniel Craig will return as James Bond in...

Total Film embarked on a not-so-secret mission to central London earlier today (real spies don't use Twitter half as much as we do) to uncover the true identity of Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes' Bond flick, codename: Bond 23.

But as it turned out, we knew it all along. The new Bond film will be called Skyfall. And if nothing falls from the sky, we're going to be very disappointed indeed.

Sam Mendes announced at the central London press conference that he'll be shooting Skyfall in London, China and Scotland and that the shoot starts... today!

Skyfall has no relation to any Fleming property, making it more of a Quantum Of Solace affair than a Casino Royale - though Mendes made it clear that Skyfall isn't a continuation of Quantum's plot

Recent casting reports were confirmed - Ben Wishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney will all appear. Javier Bardem was also confirmed by Mendes as "The villain of the piece."

So the big story here is that the press has been on point with this one - pretty much every Skyfall story we've run was officially confirmed today.

Which does make us worry slightly about the film's action quota, and makes us think maybe it's time to publish a story about Christopher Nolan signing on to direct the next instalment with Christian Bale set to star.

What do you think of the title? Tell us below!

Agreed, Skyfall sounds kinda lame, and not part of James Bond's cool titles. Sounds more like a code name for an operation, which might link the plot to the movie title, that might be cool!

@dalidab Then why bother reading the story? Why waste your time commenting on it?

ALSO, I've read a quote from Michael G Wilson saying they're going to continue with the action styling of Casino Royale, so I wouldn't worry too much about no action scenes, they're not that stupid

Skyfall... not bad, kind of intriguing. I'm more excited about the cast - Bardem, Fiennes, Finney, etc. with Mendes at the helm. Has the potential to be one of the great Bonds. For the action buffs, not to worry there will be plenty of action, the good news is now there will be a plot to go along with it (compared to QoS.) I do like that last line, a little foreshadowing with Chris Nolan - that would be fantastic for the next installment. Bale would be great, but now hes batman, we need Fassbender next.

I recall "Goldeneye" being ridiculed as a film title back in '94/'95 ... and that turned out alright in the end. Goldeneye was the weapons system, a major part of the storyline, so I think Skyfall will relate quite heavily to what takes place in the film. Casino Royale was a main location and Quantum turned out to be the covert group behind both film's events, plus Solace is what Bond was searching for in light of Vesper's death. Skyfall ... it will have meaning. I like it, it's grown on me since the news leaked last month.

Ooooh Finney as Blofeld maybe? I think this has the potential to be the best bond yet!

Dalidab, why don't you just f**k off. You comment saying you don't care or give a damn, yet you still read the article. What makes you think anyone cares or gives a damn about anything you have to say ever. What a f*****g t*t.
