The Thanksgiving weekend saw Breaking Dawn - Part 1 top the US box office for a second week in a row, with the penultimate entry to the Twilight Saga raking in a haul of $62.3m across the five day holiday.
That performance remains some way short of New Moon’s wallet-swelling efforts, but it pushes Breaking Dawn’s overall take up to $221m, which is no mean sum by anyone’s reckoning. And let's not forget there's a Part 2 coming next year...
Meanwhile, The Muppets enjoyed a healthy Thanksgiving in second place, bringing in $42m across the holiday period. That was enough to comfortably trump nearest contender Happy Feet Two, which only managed $18.3m in third spot.
Arthur Christmas and Hugo were the other big family releases, taking fourth and fifth places with hauls of $12.7m and $11.4m respectively. Adam Sandler’s Jack And Jill sits just below those two after a $14.1m take, with Immortals adding $12.5m to the pot in seventh.
Puss In Boots took just $7.45m over the weekend, but managed a highly respectable $19 million over the holiday as a whole. Propping up the table are Tower Heist and The Descendants, which took just over $7m apiece.
