Bruce Willis stars in Lay The Favourite trailer: watch now

He likes the occasional flutter...

Lay The Favourite, the new film from Stephen Frears, has released a first UK trailer, starring Bruce Willis as a professional gambler and Rebecca Hall as his ditzy good luck charm.

Hall plays Beth, a former stripper who heads to Las Vegas in search of her fortune. There she falls under the wing of high-stakes gambler Dink (Bruce Willis), who takes advantage of her incredible head for numbers by hiring her as his assistant.

Needless to say, his wife (Catherine Zeta Jones) is none too impressed by the arrangement, and things get even more complicated when Beth begins to fall for Joshua Jackson’s undercover journalist.

Take a look at the new trailer, below...

We have to say that despite Frears’ impressive pedigree, this one really hasn’t got us too excited. Hall appears to be employing a dizzyingly irritating “airhead” voice, while Willis looks to be on autopilot throughout, recalling his dialled-in performance from The Whole Nine Yards. And some of those one-liners are real stinkers...

Still, we’ll happily be proved wrong when the film opens in the UK on 22 June 2012. We don’t want Hall to “stomp a sunroof” into our heads, after all...

Are we being too harsh on this one? Tell us your thoughts, below...

After watching the trailer I still have no clue as to what it is about.
