And since The Lone Ranger has been one of those remake projects floating around the Hollywood pool for years, it’s a natural fit for the company’s plans. So who do you think producer Jerry Bruckheimer is grabbing to write the thing? None other than Pirates scribes Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio.
The pair will strip the story back down to its 1930s origins – a group of Texas Rangers is ambushed and seemingly slaughtered by outlaws. But the sole survivor is nursed back to health by a Native American named Tonto and swears revenge – even if it means donning a mask, firing only silver bullets and not killing anyone. Hey – even Batman has gimmicks.
