Burton & Depp together again?

Wonka team mulling over Sweeney Todd

It’s been all of five minutes since Lord of Lunacy Tim Burton and his muse Johnny Depp last made a movie together and yet it seems they might be missing each other already.

The pair are reportedly weighing up the merits of Steven Sondheim’s musical Sweeney Todd, the butchering barber of Fleet Street. The rumour mill has been churning away ever since Jarhead helmer Sam Mendes dipped out of the running, leaving all eyes on Burton.

Burton and Depp have collaborated on no fewer than five occasions, beginning in 1990 with Edward Scissorhands. Last year saw the buddies ring up the receipts with Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and animation creep-out, Corpse Bride.

Hint: The film starred Michael J Fox as accidental time traveller Marty McFly.
