Not one but two Cabin Fever prequels are currently in the offing, and the first of those – Cabin Fever: Patient Zero – has just nabbed itself a director in Kaare Andrews.
Patient Zero will, as prequels generally do, go back to the beginning in order to uncover the roots of the flesh-eating virus that caused so much mayhem in Eli Roth’s 2002 slasher Cabin Fever.
It’ll be set on a cruise ship to the Caribbean, where passengers battle the outbreak after a collision with an abandoned research vessel.
The film’s script was scribbled by The Hitcher writer Jake Wade Wall, and filming will be carried out in the Dominican Republic.
Andrews is better known in the comic world, having contributed art to X-Men and The Incredible Hulk, though he made his directorial debut in 2010 with supernatural thriller Altitude.
If Patient Zero does well, expect second prequel Cabin Fever: Outbreak to get the green light. Outbreak extends the story to a Caribbean island, where a doctor and his family are investigating a flu outbreak when they encounter the deadly virus.
Cabin Fever already received the sequel treatment with 2009’s Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever. Here’s hoping the prequels turn out a little better…

I honestly don't think a film could get worse than Spring Fever. I loved the first one and with it's ending I couldn't wait for a sequel but Roth ruined it. I hope Andrews does a better job.

Hmmm...Altitude was great until the last 5 minutes. Then it turned to bollocks. Big, hairy, bollocks. As will this. Probably.
