Cameos galore for Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Plus, Frank Grillo confirmed as Crossbones

Marvel has worked so hard at establishing a common universe for all of its respective Avengers to inhabit, that it should come as no surprise to hear of them cameoing in each other's movies. Nevertheless, it’s still very cool.

Variety has revealed that there will be several such cameos in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We already knew Black Widow was set to make an appearance, but now it emerges that both Nick Fury and Maria Hill will also be appearing.

None of those should come as a major surprise, given that S.H.I.E.L.D. is the organisation that ties all the films together, but it’s still exciting to have them confirmed.

In addition to that, Frank Grillo has been officially confirmed to play the villainous Crossbones, a deadly assassin who serves as one of the Red Skull’s henchmen in the comics, and can easily be recognised by his signature skeletal mask.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and co-starring Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in the US on 4 April 2014.

I absolutely love the fact they do this, i think its a stroke of good play on Marvel's front to have gotten the actors to agree to do it. It just adds to the whole 'this is one universe' idea and makes it feel even more like a comic book movie. Any more news on whether the Shield folk will make cameos in the tv show? Surely they've got to get jackson to be in either the Pilot or any end of season episode?

I completely agree @justinharmon! My own preference would be for a tiny cameo just for the comic book geeks; maybe have Captain and the Howling Commandos at chow in the mess hall and over the Captain's shoulder in one shot you can see Logan and Grayson at a table further back. Hugh Jackman might be a little busy but I'm sure Liev Schrieber (spelling) has the time.... if only the studios could do a deal!

Hence my last bloody sentence. Or aren't we allowed to discuss what we'd LIKE to see in a film?
