Cannes 2011: Roberto Benigni set for Woody Allen's next

Rome based film has four separate narratives

Roberto Benigni is advanced talks to join Woody Allen's next project, tentatively titled Bop Decameron.

A creative departure for Allen (and a new European city to enjoy), the film will take four stories loosely inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio's "The Decameron," the classic comendium of 100 tales of love, veering from erotic to tragic, written in the 1350s.

The pic will also mark Allen's first foray into Italian-language filmmaking, with two of the four vignettes that make up the film being in Italian.

The other two are stories with American characters, and will be in English - though the four stories don't crossover.

Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Penelope Cruz and Alec Baldwin have already been attached to star.

Filming is due to start in July, for a 2012 release.
