As if it didn’t have enough acting credibility already with Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr signed on to the leading roles, DreamWorks’ real life tale of a homeless, schizophrenia-afflicted musical prodigy with big dreams has just scooped Catherine Keener.
The plot follows Nathaniel Ayers (Fox), a musician living rough in Downtown LA who is discovered by newspaper columnist Steve Lopez (Downey Jr). Keener’s playing Lopez’ wife.
Joe Wright – currently riding a wave of kudos for Atonement – will start cranking the cameras this January, based on a script by Erin Brockovich scribe Susannah Grant.
