The first promo for Tom Hanks’ latest

Given the healthy Oscar buzz building around Charlie Wilson’s War – before it’s even been released or widely seen, we can almost imagine writer Aaron Sorkin standing on the roof of his house, shouting, “This is for Studio 60, you bastards!” before peeing off the edge. We’re not sure why that image popped into our heads, but we’re strange anyway.
Still, the blackly comic drama, which sees Tom Hanks’ fictional (yet based-on-truth) congressman agree to help fund the Afghan uprising against the Soviets in the ‘80s, with a little help from Texas socialite Julia Roberts and shady CIA agent Philip Seymour Hoffman.
With Mike Nichols calling the shots, it certainly looks promising. Check out the trailer here.
