Charlize Theron: Road warrior

Joining Viggo Mortensen in the apocalyptic tale

It might only be a small role, but Charlize Theron is apparently such a fan of Cormac McCarthy’s doomy, post-apocalyptic tome The Road that she’s signed on to play Viggo Mortensen’s wife in the Dimension Films adaptation of the book.

She’ll be seen mostly in flashback as a man (Mortensen) attempts to keep his son safe while battling cannibals in a scorched-Earth world following a huge nuclear explosion.

The Proposition’s John Hillcoat is behind the camera and Variety has more details.
