Cliff Curtis joins The Last Airbender

M Night Shyamalan grows his cast

Cliff Curtis, Iron Man’s Shaun Toub, Daily Show regular Aasif Mandvi and Keong Sim have all joined the cast of M Night Shyamalan’s film version of The Last Airbender.

Based on the Nickelodeon TV ‘toon and set in a land controlled by four nations – Earth, Air Fire and Water - Airbender finds a character known as the Avatar (Noah Ringer) who can manipulate all four elements.

He’ll have to try to restore piece when Fire wages war on the others.

Mandvi (below)’s signed on to play Commander Zhao of the Fire Nation, reporting to Curtis’ Lord Ozai, while Toub is a retired Fire general.

Sim, meanwhile, is the much more peaceful Earthbending father. With a cast that also includes Slumdog’s Dev Patel, Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone, Shyamalan should start shooting this month.
