Clint Eastwood directing Beyoncé in A Star Is Born

Fourth time lucky

Clint Eastwood and Beyoncé are to combine forces for a new version of the musical A Star Is Born.

Eastwood will direct from a script by Will Remember Me Fetters, while Beyoncé (and her inimitable voice) will star. Filming should commence this autumn.

This will be the fourth incarnation of the film, the last being Barbra Streisand’s 1976 version, which earned the actress a best original song Oscar.

The plot follows a young artist whose career is just taking flight (Beyoncé), juxtaposing it with the career of an alcoholic star whose time in the spotlight is coming to an end.

Deadline report that Warner Bros are targeting Will Smith for the alcoholic role (maybe they saw Hancock recently), which – when factoring in Beyoncé as well – would make for one dazzlingly attractive movie.

Think the combined forces of Eastwood and Beyonce will make for a great on-screen experience? Drop your thoughts below...

Beyonce couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag with scissors in her hands. Like Aguirlera she's all volume and no heart.
