Clooney will Stare At Goats

A tale of an army unit with paranormal powers…

It sounds like a weird competition set on a farm, but Men Who Stare At Goats is actually a fun-sounding script based on Jon Ronson’s book, which explored an attempt by the US Army to recruit a squad of soldiers boasting New Age techniques and paranormal abilities. Which includes, of course, the power to kill a goat just by staring at it, easily the most useful skill for any warrior.

The buzz around Peter Straughan’s script has been huge – it was the top unproduced screenplay in the UK last year, and now it’ll get a chance to move into the glow of production, as George Clooney has nabbed the leading role and his regular producing partner Grant Heslov will step behind the camera to direct.

Variety is busy staring at the story.
