Close up shots of Henry Cavill's Man Of Steel

Snapped at Plano, Illinois shoot

There's been much talk about the last son of Krypton's outfit in the Superman: Man Of Steel movie, with worries that it might all go a bit What Not To Wear

(Let's face it, the fanboys are more likely to call in Trinny and Susannah than Gok Wan, as new Supes Henry Cavill has already figured out how to look good naked: spend a lot of time in the gym).

The first official pic of Cavill was released early in August but fans now have the chance to study some up close and personal shots of him on set in Plato, Illinois.

There also a whole gallery of other shots online at Superhero Hype courtesy of WENN.com, click here to view those images.

Happy with the suit as seen in these close up shots? Or do such things not matter against the wider concerns of story and action? Let us know below!

Ironically superman looks less camp than usual. Not surprised Dalidab went into rapture.

It looks as though they've gone for an 'alien' look to the costume, which is great! It always used to bug me that his mum made the costume for him and, although it was made of earthly items, it never ripped; maybe a Kryponian costume can withstand a little more than polyester. I hope Snyder does this well, I loved the Watchmen and hope he'll bring some of that grit to the Man of Steel as well as something completely different. Singer's film encaptulated the greatness of the Christopher Reeve films but no matter how good Brandon Routh was I always wanted him to be Reeve! Oh, the guy looks F'ing stacked; Well done Mr Cavill!

The suit is cool. The pics im waiting anxiously to see are those of Michael Shannon as General (kneel before) Zod. He was amazing in Boardwalk Empire can't wait to see what he does with the character.

At least it answers the age old question of: "How does he go to the toilet?"

Was pretty worried about his hair from that first picture they released, looked very Danny from Grease, but these shots aren't too bad. Plus I have faith in Zack Snyder, all of his films regardless of how good they are, always look stunning.

I think the costume looks great! I think Henry Cavill definitely looks the part and can't wait to see what he does with the role! Hopefully, it won't be long before there are some shots of Michael Shannon as Zod.

As long as the tone hews closer to Watchmen than the atrocity that was Sucker-punch, I'm excited. As a huge fan of the Watchmen graphic novel, I had concerns that it was going to be a total mess, but I think he managed to adapt it fairly well, considering how complex and dark the novel is.Of course, the movie can't really compare to the novel because the novel really is a masterpiece, but still give him thumbs up. (And the whole team who worked on it, of course.) However, I almost walked out of Sucker-punch, it was so nonsensical and campy and just STUPID. I don't care how flashy and shiny your film looks, if it's dumb it's DUMB. But hopefully, seeing as he has the comics and the previous Superman movies for reference, he will manage to make a polished, dark, and thoughtful Superman. And I do agree, Mr. Cavill looks great, and I really did appreciate him in the Tudors. Fingers crossed.

I think the suit looks good - for once he looks powerful, instead of like he accidentally put his pants on outside. Very excited to see Chris Nolan's influence on this film, as it should be a completely different take on Superman - after all, who wants to keep on seeing the same film get remade over and over?

I think every director has a "Sucker Punch" in their locker. SP is one of the worst films this year IMO and by far the one I've enjoyed the least from Mr Snyder, but I think Superman will be his return to form. With Nolan producing this is looking more and more like a version of Superman that will at least stand out as being different to the previous entries. And I hope different in a positive way. Love the new take on the costume, looks very alien-esque which is how it should be when you think of it logically. The costume is actually just his regular clothing from Krypton, so it should look and feel different to Earth clothes and these photos show that. Maybe he gets his more familiar cossy by the end of the film? Anyway, I'm looking forward to this even more now. But Summer 2013 is such a long way off ...

dalidab1982 it was the opening comment about how good he looks in th suit and the exploitive deletives that came with it! Getting excited more by the day about this, Cavill looks the part, the suit looks ace and so far, so good. Does anyone know if they'll be using the same camera for the flight sequences that singer used in superman returns? This it was called genesis or soemthing; alloowed supes to stop in mid air and what not.

I didn't MIND Sucker Punch too much, but it was tremendously disappointing. Of course, it's my fault for buying into all the hype. But NOW I'm all excited for The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and Les Mis! UGH! I'll never learn. Luckily, I'm not really a Superman fan, so I'm really only into this because of Zach Snyder. Henry Cavill looks the part, and I'd like to see where Snyder takes this. It probably won't be the best superhero film of 2012, but it certainly won't be the worst (The Amazing Spider-Man, anyone?)
