In an intriguing bit of news that was somewhat buried in the midst of the Christmas period, some new concept art has been released for the Wachowski Brothers’ Cloud Atlas adaptation.
The new imagery gives us an idea of how the Wachowskis will portray the portion of the book set against the futuristic backdrop of Seoul in the year 2044. Whether or not the finished article will match these early ideas remains to be seen, but it certainly looks to be a promising jumping-off point.
There’s also an official image of Bae Doona as Somni-451, one of the genetically engineered fabricants (or clones to you and me) who exist to maintain the infrastructure of this technologically advanced cityscape.
The Seoul-set storyline will only form part of the film, with the sprawling storyline taking in a huge number of locations and time periods. The film is set for release in late 2012, so hopefully we’ll get a look at some of the other story segments sooner rather than later…
