Cobie Smulders has admitted that she’s in talks for Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, in a move that’d lend some continuity credibility to the small-screen spin-off.
In an interview with IAR, Smulders was asked about the possibility of appearing in the show, considering that she has a major role in a long-running sitcom.
“The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it," Smulders responded. "And I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it."
If she does sign on, it’d be a wonderful win for the show. Smulders character was a popular addition to the franchise in The Avengers, and it’d certainly help the TV series feel genuinely connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather than coming across as a cheap knock-off.
Plus, Smulders has the small screen experience from her gig on HIMYM.
Hill is the sidekick to Samuel L. Jackson’s big boss, Nick Fury: smart, level-headed and handy with a pistol.
Smulders went on to add that she intends to stay in the MCU for as long as possible, “Oh yeah! I’m very excited. I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it.”
