Colin Firth joins A Single Man

Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode are also in the drama

Fashion designer Tom Ford has picked Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode to star in his first film, A Single Man.

Adapted from Christopher Isherwood’s novel by Ford and David Searce, the film will start shooting shortly, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The plot finds a gay English professor (Firth) struggling to cope with his usual routine in LA after the death of his partner (Watchmen’s Goode, who will be seen in flashbacks). Moore’s playing one of his best friends.

Fashion to film

Ford’s making the leap from the world of Gucci to movies, aiming to prove that you can jump between the careers. Let’s hope he does better than Madonna’s dodgily reviewed effort.
