Colin Trevorrow says there's truth to the Jurassic World plot leaks

It's Jurassic Theme Park time...

The rumours are true. Reluctantly or not, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has ‘fessed up to the major plot details recently leaked onto the internet.

If you somehow managed to avoid the leak and don’t want to know about the themes, the ‘new dinosaur’ and the setting, look away now.

Jurassic World will revisit the original digs of Jurassic Park - Isla Nublar. It will feature a real-life theme park welcoming 20,000 visitors a day who will need to be ferried in from Costa Rica to attend the park which hosts a zoo, a luxury resort of hotels, a golf course and some nightclubs.

As for the dinosaurs, they’ll be the real deal. “There are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible” Trevorrow said.

On explaining the themes of the new film he said how two concepts drive the plot. One is money - “the gasoline in the engine of our biggest mistakes”. The other is technology where he observes how “we’ve become numb to the scientific miracles around us”.

Trevorrow continued - “We imagined a teenager texting his girlfriend with his back to a T-Rex behind protective glass. For us, that image captured the way much of the audience feels about the movies themselves".

Chris Pratt’s character (rumoured to be called Owen) will be observing the behaviour of raptors and is trying to “figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings”.

The “one new dinosaur” created in the park is the answer to the park visitors’ calls for “something bigger, louder and with more teeth. And that’s what they get”.

Speaking to Slash Film, Colin had a rather pointed riposte aimed at the snitch behind the leak: “I hope whoever leaked it is actively trying to undermine what we’re doing. Because if they’re trying to help, they’re doing it wrong”.

Jurassic World is out 12 June 2015.
