"Crazy" unicorn flick winds up at Nick

Nickelodeon has bought a Unicorn

Nickelodeon Movies have picked up Unicorn, an Elf-style mythical-creature-meets-the-real-world movie, about an average Joe who wakes up with – you guessed it – a unicorn in his apartment.

Writer Joey Aucoin sounds like he didn’t have much confidence in his idea. "It was too crazy, so I couldn't pitch it," he said. "I decided to write it as a spec, and if I fell on my face, it was okay."

Luckily Blades Of Glory producer John Jacobs did believe in Unicorn. "The film has fantastic elements like Blades of Glory and has really strong characters," Jacobs said.

Jacobs will produce through Smart Entertainment, alongside exec producer Colin O'Reilly.
