Daniel Craig talks “adult” Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

“Fincher’s not holding back,” says actor

Daniel Craig has been talking about the upcoming remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, revealing that even he was shocked by some of the film's risqué content.

Craig plays journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who investigates the disappearance of a young woman with the help of goth hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara).

The Brit actor was recently shown a cut of the film by director David Fincher, and reveals it doesn’t pull any punches.

“It's not that he simply showed me footage that was horribly graphic,” Craig explains. “It was stuff that was happening, or had happened. And somehow you don't see it.

“There's more than one way to sense violence. Much more powerful ways than seeing it step-by-step. It's as adult as you can possibly make it.

“This is adult drama. I grew up, as we fucking all did, watching The Godfather and that, movies that were made for adults. And this is a $100 million R-rated movie. Nobody makes those anymore.”

Craig adds: “Fincher, he's not holding back. They've given him free rein. He showed me some scenes recently, and my hand was over my mouth, going, ‘Are you fucking serious?’”

We can’t wait.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo opens 26 December.

Don't Know If I'm excited about this yet tbh! I mean The originals were fantastic and While I love David Finchers work, I can't help but think... Why would he pick up something that less than just two years ago was still on the big screen :S I hope I can love this as much as the Swedish original!! I trust David Fincher to get it done right and I think Rooney Mara is a brilliant choice for Lisbeth Salander.

Everyone was saying WTF, when Fincher annouced a Facebook movie. And how did that end up. I'm saying - let's just wait and see. So far he hasn't made a bad film.

Absolutely hated Benjamin Button. And The Game was a convoluted piece of tripe. And not many people Like Alien 3 (although I think it's quite interesting).

"He showed me some scenes recently, and my hand was over my mouth, going, ‘Are you f*****g serious?’”" Clearly read the book, didn't we, Blomkvist (?)
