Darren Aronofsky has talked about his plans to bring the biblical tale of Noah to the big screen, calling it a “big event film”.
The director recently made waves with his dark ballet thriller Black Swan (which nabbed its star Natalie Portman an Oscar), and left comic-book fans wailing when he walked away from The Wolverine.
On Noah, he confirms: “I want to make a big event film, and I think it can be that.
“I don’t think it’s a very religious story. I think it’s a great fable that’s part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it’s a great story that’s never been on film.”
Noah’s script is currently in the re-writing stage with scribe John Logan calling the shots, while Christian Bale has long been rumoured for the title role.
With Aronofsky no longer making The Wolverine, Noah could be an interesting alternative – sure to be a massive cinematic epic, it could end up being the director’s most ambitious project yet.
