Darren Aronofsky talks Wolverine

Why he chose X-Men over others

Darren Aronofsky is everywhere at the moment - with Black Swan opening in a few weeks in USA and the new two-year deal with Fox - and the director has now opened up about his plans for The Wolverine.

This one off Wolverine film will be set this time in Japan, and is based on the Chris Calremeont and Frank Miller’s 1982 mini series.

The script has been adapted by Christopher McQuarrie (Usual Suspects) and will follow Logan when he falls in love with a married Japanese woman.

Cue lots of Samurai fighting with her family to win over her heart.

Aronofsky didn’t have a lot to say about the plans he’s making for The Wolverine as he's still busy with the press for Black Swan.

In the clip below he explains why he wanted to do The Wolverine instead of other projects, such as The Tiger with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Looking forward to The Wolverine? Rather see Robocop? Let us know!

Weirdly he reminds me of the love child of Kevin Kline and Christian Bale

The only reservation I have is that this film is still being made by Fox Abattoirs who have continuously butchered MARVEL characters in which can be best described as counterfeit versions. Let's see how much control Darren Aronofsky will actually have on this project. Fox Abattoirs have NO respect for the original mainstream source material, they show contempt for the fans by always introducing their own convoluted changes which bear no resemblance to the original work; again disrespecting the writers and artists over the decades whose work made these characters popular in the first place. Give the film rights back to MARVEL / DISNEY so that we can get to see a TRUE & FAITHFUL adaptation on screen that do the comic books justice. It's only a matter of time before the MARVEL / DISNEY behemoth buy back the film rights from Fox Abattoirs and Phony Sony.

Kline x Bale? With that 'tache, he looks more like Errol Flynn's gay nephew. (Which I mean as a compliment, I assure you.)

Bale is a good call, he does seem quite angry and a little self involved. I don't honestly believe the "I was the only one in the room who wanted to do the movie" lonely genius b******t though, but I still think he'll make a good film
