Das Experiment remake gets a cast

Adrien Brody and Elijah Wood will take part

The remake of German psycho-thriller Das Experiment has nabbed a cast that includes Adrien Brody, Elijah Wood and Forest Whitaker.

Paul Scheuring, the man who brought the world Prison Break on TV (er… thanks?) has written an adaptation – called, creatively, The Experiment – and will direct.

The plot finds a group of men recruited to take on the roles of guards and prisoners to study the effects of power and control on human behaviour in the situation. Suffice to say, things don’t go well.

Brody will play a bloke who becomes the leader of the prisoners, while Whitaker will play a guard who becomes a little power mad. Twilight’s Cam Gigandet is also aboard.

Oliver Hirschbiegel, who must be fuming that he didn’t get the chance to make the US version, directed the original (above). Though given how well his work with the American system on The Invasion panned out, we can see why he might not want to…

It all kicks off filming in Iowa next month.
