We doubt that when Martin Campbell was directing Edge Of Darkness for the BBC way back in 1985, he knew that 23 years later he’d be preparing to shoot a film version starring Mel Gibson and now – provided his deal gets locked in – Robert De Niro.
Yes, De Niro is negotiating to play Darius Jeburgh, a covert operative sent to clean up the mess when Gibson’s detective Thomas Craven starts investigating the murder of his daughter on the steps of his home. Seems she was mixed up in a big government conspiracy and Craven is too close to the truth…
Campbell will start shooting in Boston this month and Variety is following the clues.
