The producers behind National Treasure have bought the rights to remake Korean gangster drama A Dirty Carnival.
We doubt it'll keep that name (it sounds more like a perverted circus movie than a crime pic),but it'll likely keep the rough plot intact - a small time debt collector for the triads finds his fortunes rising but his own family swirling into debt.
Sparkler Entertainment (which helped bring the world Nicolas Cage's code-cracking adventures) is producing, and has hired Never Back Down writer Chris Hauty to tap out a script.
Since The Departed, which was adapted from Hong Kong's Infernal Affairs, scooped an Oscar for Martin Scorsese, the producers will be hoping this works out as well…
