Walt Disney studios has announced that it won’t co-produce, finance or distribute the third Narnia film, The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.
While Walden Media has the option to shop the film around other studios, the move puts the film in serious doubt as it means that key filmmakers – such as the cast and director Michael Apted – might not now stay aboard, despite pre-production launching recently.
The mostly likely team to pick up the film (provided anyone wants it) is Fox, which has a strong relationship with Walden, according to The Hollywood Reporter
Big money
Whoever does decided to nab a stake in the film will have to reach deep – Prince Caspian cost around $200 million, and while it did decent business at the box office, it couldn’t match The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe’s big hitter status.
So if you were hoping to see The Dawn Treader sail on to screens, consider this some coal in your stocking. Start saving those pennies, folks – this one needs a cash injection sharpish.

Question: Are you shipwrecked at the idea that Dawn Treader may not sail? Or don't you give a trumpkin?

The second movie is sill making money and they don't want to finance the next installment. Boy are they going to be sorry when the third movie breaks the record of the first movie.

It did make 419 million dollars worldwide and is selling millions on DVD, how is that a disappointment?!?!? Disney sucks!! Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the best book in the series! I hope another studio picks it up and the movie makes tons of money for that studio--us Narnia fans will make sure of it!

What they have completely failed to take into account is that, of the books, Voyage of the Dawn Treader is probably the second favorite. Most people, especially neophytes to the series, like The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe best, but a fair number, like me, rank Voyage number 1. And then a lot of those who like the first book best like the 3rd book next best. If that makes any sense at all.
Anyway, the point is, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, as a movie, would almost certainly be way bigger than Prince Caspian. That's what I was trying to say.
