Disney releases Oscar-nominated Paperman online: watch now

Take a look at John Kahrs’ moving short

A treat for fans of animated filmmaking has landed online, with Disney’s Oscar-nominated short Paperman now available to watch in full.

Directed by John Kahrs the film blends traditional 2D animation with computer-generated imagery to eye-pleasing effect. It really is gorgeous to look at.

The short tells the story of a lonely young man living in mid-20th Century New York who meets a beautiful stranger during his morning commute to work.

Expecting never to see her again, he is stunned to find that she works in the office across the street from his. And with only a stack of paper to work with, he sets about trying to gain her attention.

Take a look at the short below:

Rather lovely, isn’t it? You can find out whether Kahrs’ film scoops an Academy Award when the gongs are handed out on 24 February 2013.

Or you can also catch the whole thing on the big screen before every theatrical screening of Wreck-It Ralph.

What do you think of the film? Tell us, below!

Lovely little film, and that animation is stunning. Don't see why someone can't make a 'grown up' feature film in that style (not that type of grown up film you perverts!) - that would suit a comic-book or even video game adaptation perfectly, but there's always that assumption that an animated film is for children.

It you liked it then don't miss a similar short film called Signs, which you can find and watch on You Tube, and which I came across a while back at tefl site called film-english. I visited the tefl site this morning to have another look at the lesson plan on Signs and to compare the two films, but it seems someone had already beaten me to it. Both really lovely shorts :-)
