Dwayne Johnson has replaced Brendan Fraser as the action man of choice in Journey To The Centre Of The Earth sequel Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
Whereas Fraser played the uncle of Josh Hutcherson in the first flick, Johnson has been brought in to take his place for the fantastical follow-up.
Johnson will play the boyfriend of Hutcherson’s mother, who finds himself sucked into a trek to a monstrous island to help find the boy’s missing grandfather.
Directed by Brad Peyton (Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore), the script is apparently a loose interpretation of Jules Verne’s The Mysterious Island. Shooting is set to commence in October in North Carolina and Hawaii. Like the first film, it will be released in 3D.
