Eddie Murphy talks the 2012 Oscars

“I'm going to be the worst host ever”

According to an interview with director Brett Ratner, when he agreed to produce the Oscars he knew that he needed a comedian and his top choice was Eddie Murphy.

And while there are often water works when the awards are dished out, Ratner might not be prepared for what his Tower Heist star has in store.

“I think it's so funny that people think I'm perfect for this. I'm going to be horrendous. I'm going to be the worst host ever,” Murphy jokingly told Entertainment Tonight while discussing the 84th Academy Awards in 2012.

“I'm going to wear a powder sky blue tuxedo and at the end of the evening I'm going to urinate on myself in front of a billion people.”

Ratner has revealed that many of the ideas for the Oscar ceremony are dictated by what’s nominated, but said he's also coming up with a lot of ideas beforehand.

Might be an idea to have some towels on standby.

Think Murphy is really joking? Or could things get a little out of control when he steps in front of an audience that large? Don't hold it in - tell us below!

For all his faults, Ratner can be quite a funny guy on times so i'm hoping for good things from both The Oscars and Tower Heist. He definitely does comedy better than he does Superhero that's for sure. And hopefully Eddie spending some time amongst the creme da la creme of Hollywood folk will wake him up to the fact that he's been making absolute sh*te for the past 20yrs and give him a bit of a comeback Travolta style.

Can you imagine Eddie Murphy in a Tarantino film? I'd pay good money for that...!

Well at least he can't be as bad as James Franco last year. Anne Hathaway was great, he dragged her down.
