Eddie Murphy to star in Beverly Hills Cop 4

Paramount pressing ahead with third sequel

Paramount is moving forward with Beverly Hills Cop 4, with Deadline reporting that the studio has secured Eddie Murphy to star in the fourth outing.
The franchise had initially been expected to progress as a TV series dreamed up by The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, with the story focusing on Axel Foley’s son, played by Brandon T. Jackson.
Murphy had appeared in the pilot episode, reprising his performance as loose-cannon cop Axel, but the show wasn’t picked up despite widespread media interest.
However, Murphy’s performance was seemingly enough to persuade studio bosses that there is still mileage in the character, with Paramount taking the plunge with a third sequel.

No director has been confirmed as yet, but Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will be charged with creating a script, having previously penned the screenplay for the forthcoming Ninja Turtles remake.

Why, God, why? The first film was good, the second not so good and the third was the cinematic equivalent of a lukewarm turd. Why anybody even thinks this is a good idea is beyond me, and I'm a master of bad ideas.

just so long as they bring back the 18 rated language, the captain from the first movie taught me all i ever needed to know about swearing when i was a kid.

Jesus Christ these 80's actors really need to let go of the past and leave old franchises alone. We don't need Conan 3, Terminator 5, Beverly Hills Cop 4 or Ghostbusters 3.

I'm happy for the original creators to be in charge of the franchises' destinies, rather than remakes, reboots and so on. But Conan certainly has more scope to explore that world and the character at a different point in his life than this does. Especially not if Ratner gets involved again.

YEAHHHH, Awesome, Beverly Hills cop rules!!!! I really hope this will be used, after years of waiting, to make a decent film with Eddie in it. However here is I how think the family orientated story will actually play out based on his recent movie record...... Foley has become fat after years of pie and pizza eating. Whilst investigating a break in at a local science lab Foley finds a serum which can be used to make him thin. He takes the potion and faints. When he wakes up he is not only thin but can talk to animals!!! He uses his new found body to go and get his own back on people who laughed at him when he was a big fat blooter (ive heard of dreadlock....but s**tlocks!!!) He goes to a haunted mansion, and has dinner with a fat family (which are all played by Murphy), they fart alot and talk smack. Shrek propably turns up at some point. The end.........1 out of 5 stars from me

I Love All of Eddie Murphy's movies, But I strongly feel that this 4th Beverly Hills Cop movie is not going to get a high gross of viewers. Eddie Murphy is a Legend without a doubt, I just think that they should leave the Beverly Hills Cop series at Sequel 3.
