Emile Hirsch nabs Hamlet

He’s got a Bard attitude for Catherine Hardwicke

Looks like Emile Hirsch is sticking with his commitment to hefty thesping roles such as Milk, Into The Wild and, er Speed Racer: he’s the latest cinematic Hamlet.

At, least, that’s Overture Films’ plan – the company is developing what will stand as the latest modern-day take on Shakespeare’s troubled Dane, with Catherine Hardwicke (below) on board to helm.

Painted Veil
scribe Ron Nyswaner will crank out the script, apparently based on Hardwicke’s ideas and set in the US, while the producers are touting the fact that it’s finally going to be a an adaptation with an age-appropriate lead.

Even if he’s not a nationality-appropriate one…

Yes, all those looking ahead to GCSE Shakespeare take heart – you might have an easy-to-digest take on the Bard in your future.

Hirsch as Hamlet? To be? Or not to be? That’s the question, commenters…
