Emma Watson in talks to play Cinderella

Could take the lead in Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation

Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella adaptation could have found its princess, with Emma Watson reported to be in advanced talks to take the title role.

When Mark Romanek was at the helm, the frontrunners for the part were reportedly Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and Gabriella Wilde, but now Branagh has stepped in to replace him, apparently the shortlist has changed.

Watson is said to be the hot favourite for the role, although Imogen Poots is also thought to be on Branagh’s radar. We’ll have to wait and see as to who that slipper fits best…

Whoever takes the role will be starring opposite Cate Blanchett’s Wicked Stepmother, while the script has been written by Chris Weitz and Aline Brosh McKenna.

Cinderella would mark a return to blockbuster cinema for Watson, who has been experimenting with less obvious blockbuster fare post-Potter. Branagh will be hoping he can tempt her back to the multiplex with this one…

Would Watson be a good fit for the role? Tell us, below!
