With the recent announcement that Nicole Kidman is joining the first His Dark Materials film, The Golden Compass, the casting avalanche is starting.
The next thesp grabbing a role in the fantasy is Eva Green, who you’ll likely remember from Kingdom Of Heaven or The Dreamers (steady) and who is about to get some international exposure (we said steady) from a certain little movie called Casino Royale.
Green has apparently signed a deal for one film to play Serafina Pekula, queen of witches, with New Line holding an option for two more should the first make a pile of money and the company decide to complete the trilogy.
With Chris Weitz at the helm, it all gears up next month at Shepperton, with a November 2007 release date set.
