Evangeline Lilly on playing a grittier type of Elf in The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug

Exclusive: “I’m supposed to be absolutely ruthless…”

In Total Film magazine issue 207, we profile the most exciting movies, stars and trends heading your way in the Future 100.

Evangeline Lilly is playing an entirely new character (ie. not in the book) in the upcoming Hobbit sequels, so it should come as no surprise to find out that the former Lost actress scores a place on our list.

You can read the full feature inside the issue, but here’s a sneak peek at what Lilly had to say about playing Peter Jackson’s woodland Elf, Tauriel.

“She’s a very, very young elf,” Lilly told us. “She’s only 600 years old, unlike Legolas who’s like, 1,900 years old and Thranduil who’s about 3,000 years old. She doesn’t have quite the wisdom and pose that those two boys do; she’s a little more... gritty. A little more spontaneous, passionate perhaps.”

Taking her bow in The Desolation Of Smaug, Tauriel is a fighter who makes a mess with finesse. “To play this character I need to have a certain amount of grace,” said Lilly. “But I’m also supposed to be an absolutely ruthless, deadly killer."

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug opens in the UK on 13 December 2013.

Another kick-a*s, kung fu ninja master 110 pound female film character that can kick the a*s of every man around. Quel surprise. This overt trend is all about the pseudo-empowerment of women and the subjugation of men. The bankers and Oligarchs that the western governments and all major companies, the IMF, World bank, BIS etc are implementing a world government and as with all takeovers the biggest threats must be neutralised. Men are the biggest threat to the new world order. Men are physically more dangerous, more likely to challenge authority (Men are more inclined to view totalitarian Government as an alpha male threat, women view it as a protector) they also want to destroy any institution that promotes devotion to something other than the state. Such institutions form resistance to tyrannical government. Thus they orchestrated the massive attack on religion via the 'new atheism' and the destruction of the traditional family structure. They did this via the promotion of feminism. Women have been trained to dismiss traditional motherly nurturing femine values to pursue masculine traits, thus making relationships with men more difficult as men have evolved to fight other men, not compete with women. This also erodes the family structure as male/female parenting roles work when they compliment each other as opposed to constant competitive conflict. So this trend of the kickass kung fu chick is misandric overt social engineering. An upcoming example is Faora, the Kryptonian Lieutenant of General Zod who beats Superman to a bloody pulp. Such an occurrence is logically ridiculous as a 120 pound woman cannot beat a 200 pound strong athletic male in a fight, no matter what martial arts she knows.
