Evil Dead sequels may tie old and new storylines together

Could be seven films in total

With Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake showing at this year’s WonderCon festival, it was only going to be a matter of time before questions were once more aimed at the filmmakers regarding the issue of sequels.
Sam Raimi has already revealed that he’s working on an idea for a follow-up to Army Of Darkness, and now Alvarez has confirmed that he will be making a sequel to his own movie, allowing the old and new storylines to exist alongside each other.
However, what really got the crowd excited was the revelation that those two films will lead into a final, crossover movie in which the two timelines collide in spectacular fashion.
As Bruce Campbell helpfully weighed in, “seven is a nice number”, confirming that we could have three more Evil Dead movies on our hands before we know it. Just like buses, aren’t they...

Meanwhile, Evil Dead will open in the UK on 5 April 2013.

Is a crossover movie a good idea? Tell us, below!

Oh dear gods.... I'm out. I loved the original movies. And Army of Darkness, in all its splendid crazyness, is still one of my favourite cheer-me-up films. I am not really looking forward to the new one. It looks too much like the modern torture porn style, which wasn't what the originals were all about! I don't care if it's a case of 'if he had modern effects back then, he would have'. The imagination will always trump CGI grossness. The idea of crossing them over sounds... well... ridiculous. In a bad way. I'll just stick to the originals I think. I was sucked into the 'Raimi' return to 'Horror' with 'Drag Me To Hell' advertising flood and was sorely disappointed with the result. I refuse to make the same mistake.

Is this an April fool or are they actually planning a timeline crossover thing? Army of Evil Dead would be a brilliant film!

Actually, jamiecrump, from the various trailers out there, there is a lot of CGI blatantly visible. But hey, lets believe what the press release says cos, hey... when Drag Me To Hell came out Raimi promised the fans a return to his 'practical effects' horror roots, and that all worked out fine didn't it?

The idea that Diablo 'no-one talks like that' Cody can write anything that resembles horror or comedy is an April fool in itself.
