Exclusive: Kiefer talks 24 movie!

It won't be set in America, and there may be sequels...

24 star Kiefer Sutherland today exclusively told Total Film that the TV show’s conclusion at the end of series 8 has indeed paved the way for the long-awaited 24 movies. (Yes, plural).

According to Kiefer, the first film is already scripted and will take place outside of America.

Although he was understandably tight-lipped on the plot details, Keifer confirmed that the first film is already scripted and is "not going to take place in America".

He also admitted there will be major structural changes to the TV series.

“The film will be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day,” he said, “so all of a sudden, the restrictions of the real-time aspect are lifted. Which is huge.

“To put it in context, in the series, every crisis had to come to us, because we couldn’t move. Who wants to see Jack Bauer sit on a plane for four hours?

“But in the format of the film, it will be very feasible to go from Eastern Europe to London in the space of 24 hours, so all of a sudden there is so much more latitude. The skies have opened up!”

Series 8 of 24 is currently showing in the UK on Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD on Sundays at 9pm.

Excited? Could you go another few TV series of 24 or is now the right time to wrap up Jack's adventures, movie style?

This last season of 24 had a pretty slow and annoying start. But the past month or so has been downright amazing. I can't wait for the movies. I just hope they are awesome from the start. 24 has always seemed to spend the first half of the season building up and the second half kicking a*s. Here's hoping the movies kick a*s from beginning to end.

I do not see how a 24 movie will differ from a Bourne movie or a Bond movie with the exception that Jack Bauer is the lead. Te real time format is what would separate a 24 film from the others.

Anybody who says ^that^ clearly doesn't watch 24 (or, if they do, they can't see beyond the basic concept, which says more about the viewer than the show). You can't compare it to Bond or Bourne right off the cuff - those are the best action franchises out there! Anyway, what's so bad about it being another action movie? We get LOADS every year. The only difference here is that the audience already know who the characters are and they love the lead. Should be *fantastic*

Since the film is going to be an international affair, here's hoping that it will be in the vein of "Clear and Present Danger" which I rediscovered on DVD recently. That confrontation in the White House alone is a winner and would not be out of place in the 24 universe.
