Explosive new trailer for White House Down: watch now

It’s a rough day at the office for Channing Tatum

White House Down has released a brand new trailer online, in which Channing Tatum’s badass security aide finds himself having to defend President Jamie Foxx from a gang of White House-invading terrorists.

As if to make things even worse, its Tatum’s first day on the job! Well, he’s actually only there for a job interview, so he’d really be within his rights to turn tail and run.

Sadly, however, his daughter is among the hostages, so even if he doesn’t want to do his duty to the leader of the free world, he’ll have to stay put to rescue his own flesh and blood...

Take a look at the new trailer, below:

As has been heavily documented, this is basically the same film as Olympus Has Fallen, with a similarly tongue-in-cheek approach to the carnage. “God this is so stupid” mutters Tatum at one point, in what seems to be a direct wink at the camera. Daft it might be, but it could still be a lot of fun...

Directed by Roland Emmerich and co-starring Jason Clarke, Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Woods, White House Down will open in the UK on 6 September 2013 (after it opens in the US on 27 June 2013).

What do you think of the new trailer? Tell us, below!

Olympus Has Fallen is one of this year's guilty pleasures for me, totally silly and OTT but a lot of fun and damn entertaining ... this is starting to look almost like a carbon copy and just as much fun only with better CGI this time around :)

What other films has this happened to where 2 have been released around the same time with similar stories? I know there was Antz/A Bugs Life. Maybe TF should do a Top 10 (can't imagine there'd be enough for your usual '50' list!) and pit them against each other to see which one came out on top in retrospect.

The two that spring to my mind are quite famous for being released only a few months apart in the same year .... 1997's battle of the lava films; Dante's Peak and Volcano and the following year it was asteroid disaster in the form of Deep Impact and Armageddon in 1998
