Filming wraps on The Hunger Games

First film in a possible four-part series in the can

Shooting has wrapped on The Hunger Games, which is based on the Suzanne Collins novel of the same name.

Filming began on 23 May 2011 and principal photography ended in North Carolina following an 84-day shoot.

With two other books in the teen fiction series - Catching Fire and Mockingjay - Lionsgate will hope this film can become the first in a money-spinning four-part series (yes, they're planning on doing a Harry Potter/Twilight and wringing an extra installment out of the books).

And the studio doesn't have long to wait now to find out if it its first movie can find a cinema audience, with a release date set for 23 March 2012.

The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson.

Can this trilogy of books turn into a movie franchise in its own right? Or will this go the way of Alex Rider and the Stormbreaker movie? Tell us below!
