Final Destination 5 gets a director

Avatar vis effects supervisor steps up

Final Destination 5

Final Destination 5 is going ahead withAvatar visual effects supervisor Steven Quale in the directors chair.

Quale worked as second unit director and visual effects supervisor on Avatar and Titanic, and was also involved in the effects of James Cameron’s pioneering Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

This will be his first time directing his own project, with Quale working from a script by A Nightmare On Elm Street’s Eric Heisserer. (Um, good luck there bud.)

The opening scene of mayhem and disaster this time around will reportedly revolve around a suspension bridge (youch), while another horrific scene will involve laser eye surgery.

Final Destination 5, which will be in 3D like the last flick, is set to start shooting this September and has a release date of 26 August 2011.
