First full trailer arrives for 300: Rise Of An Empire: watch now

"It begins as a whisper…"

300: Rise Of An Empire has released a first full trailer online, which more than lives up to the bloody mayhem wreaked by its predecessor.

Set before, during and after the events of the first film, the sequel will follow a critical sea battle between the defending Greeks and the marauding Persian army, as well as exploring the origins of God-King Xerxes.

The new trailer doesn't dwell on the vagaries of the plot however, with the spotlight falling squarely on a series of typically spectacular action scenes.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

While there are still plenty of CGI six-packs to marvel over, one of the primary pleasures of the new film looks to be Lena Headey and Eva Green hissing icily from their respective sides of the conflict. What price a direct confrontation?

Directed by Noam Murro and co-starring Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro and David Wenham, 300: Rise Of An Empire will open in the US on 7 March 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.

Honestly I'll see it, at least it's got Eva Green in a hot leather outfit.
