First look at Sylvester Stallone in Bullet To The Head

Axe fight!

The first image from Sylvester Stallone's new action movie, Bullet To The Head, has been unveiled, and it's as gloriously ludicrous as you've come to expect from the action giant.

The muscular sexagenarian is straining his veiny arms in an effort to prevent the other dude (apparently Conan's Jason Momoa) from splitting his head in two with an axe.

It has got us hoping for a face-off to rival the most ridiculous from Sly's action heyday.

Bullet To The Head, formerly going by the snappier title of Headshot, is directed by Walter Hill, and sees Stallone's hitman Jimmy Bobo (yes, that's actually his name) team with a cop to seek vengeance for for the murder of their partners.

Check out the full image here:

The film opens on 13 April 2013.

Do you think the name Jimmy Bobo makes this hitman sound like he's moonlighting as a clown? Will this be another guilty pleasure of 2012? Your thoughts please…

i like it... you have to give the main action star a ridiculous name, it comes with the territory, would be great to see jason momoa do more, he was awesome in stargate atlantis and is a great action star.... conan remake was always going to suck no matter who they got (but im bias as im n ot a fan altogether)

Good to see Walter HIll back in the directors chair, hopefully this will make amends for his noughties efforts (Supernova and producing Alien Vs ZZzzz) even if it is post-pub fodder.

@marc96 - Glad someone else enjoyed Momoa's work on Atlantis. As far as most commenters (and bloggers) are concerned he didn't do anything until Game Of Thrones... I have to say I'm looking forward to this, and I welcome the return of both Walter Hill and ludicrous character names in action movies.

Maybe that's why they all like punching and shooting people - all that pent up aggression from being bullied as children for having silly names. Don't tell me Chev Chelios didn't take a beating or too in his youth.
