First look at Tom Cruise in All You Need Is Kill

Meet Robo-Cruise

A new image has emerged online from the amusingly titled All You Need Is Kill, featuring our first glimpse of Tom Cruise in his robot suit.

The film sees Cruise play a military man who is killed during an abortive mission to eradicate an alien race. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, he soon finds himself forced to relive his death over and over again.

Direct physical contact with one of the aliens has thrown him into some sort of time loop, you see, meaning that poor old Cruise is forced to play out the fatal combat over and over and over. Although over time, he does at least find his skills developing...

The new image shows Cruise’s character in some kind of mecha-suit, with a panicked look on his face. As you can see from the billowing explosion behind him, the mission isn’t going altogether to plan.

Directed by Doug Liman and co-starring Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton (awww, man!), All You Need Is Kill opens in the UK on 14 March 2014.

Tom Cruise talks about All You Need Is Kill in issue 200 of Total Film magazine, out now.

Source Code with a dash of Groundhog Day and a good helping of Starship Troopers to me. Personally, it sounds bloody awful, and lazy.... but I'll keep an open mind and see what the trailer brings.

That's the smallest suit I've ever seen.

Tom's really going at great lengths now to escape those gay thoughts.

Really disappointed with the way this looks. I loved the book and the idea of replacing a 20-something Japanese kid with Tom Cruise is terrible. Plus, the suit looks like a joke - couldn't they have made it into some kind of mech or bear suit kind of configuration? Then at least we wouldn't have had to see his face all the time.
