First look at Vin Diesel on set in Riddick 3

The goggles are back

Vin Diesel's Facebook page is well worth following.

As well as dispensing tidbits of philosophical advice, inspirational messages and sharing candid snaps of himself frolicking shirtless, it's also a decent source of concept art and movie updates.

Like the snap above for example, which sees the hulking actor back in mythological garb for part three of the Riddick franchise (IMDb is calling it The Chronicles Of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, but we're hoping that's a pun-tastic mistake).

Diesel's been riding something of a career peak over the last couple of years, having spent the best part of the 'noughties' in the doldrums before getting a boost with the resurgence of the Fast And Furious series.

While he looks suitably impressive in the on-set image, we're a tad nervous that his costume suggests Chronicles Of Riddick rather than Pitch Black.

Let's hope that isn't the case.

David Twohy is calling the shots on the film, which is expected to be released at some point next year.

Reckon this'll see Riddick back on form? Have your say below...

Say what you want about the first 'Chronicles', but Vin Diesel always looks bad a*s as Riddick and I am massively hopefully about this one. The anime was very good and so were the games, if they can just capture some of the spirirt they had in Pitch Black; this could turn out to be a good movie.

      Honestly Chronicles wasn't that bad.

Chronicles of Riddick reminded me of Dune in that there were some great ideas there but it was far too big and pretentious for it's own boots. The initial blurb for the new film sounds more stripped down and basic which was the good thing about Pitch Black. A high concept with a minimal setting.

Chronicles should have been set entirely on Crematoria and left out all the 'necromongers' soap opera.

Necromongers stank but they needed something that epic to challenge this Anti hero riddick and I thought although Pitch was a lot classier, Chronicles was def more fun! Loved it at the flicks!.....
