The first official image from the new James Bond adventure, Skyfall, has been released online.
It shows Daniel Craig looking grizzled, moody and on a mission. We like.
Even though he's had a four year break from the role since appearing in Quantum Of Solace, the actor's looking as badass as ever, with a grainy smattering of stubble that suggests he hasn't had time for his usual grooming ritual.
And despite the fact that the 50th anniversary of the Dr No is inspiring all kinds of birthday celebrations for Bond, the new image suggest Skyfall is taking 007 in a pleasingly different direction.
The above image shows Bond in Shanghai, one of the many locations that director Sam Mendes is plonking him in.
Skyfall opens on 26 October 2012.

Which makes absolutely no sense because it's a seriously outdated firearm. The P99 is a much better all-round pistol, annoyed the hell out of me when he went back to using a PPK in Quantum of Solace when everyone he was fighting was using guns with double the capacity and calibre... :/

Is it me or does he look a bit like Chuck Norris in that pic?

Reminds me of the bloke that plays Sandor Clegane in Game of Thrones myself, but there's a bit of chuck in there! That's less 'smattering of stubble' more 'beard' though :p

@writerdave87: Yeah, so outdated! He should definitely whip out the .45 longslide with laser sighting, the futureman's weapon of choice ;)

Lol doesn't have to be sci fi, it's just a bit odd that they made the decision to go back to using an eighty-year-old gun when the recent films have given his opponents any number of modern firearms. If Fleming was writing the books now, he'd have given Bond something more current- the PPK was a decent, concealable pistol when the original books were written, but compared to modern firearms it's unreliable, carries a tiny amount of bullets (although Bond always fires more than the PPK carries anyway :p), and is underpowered. A .45 Longslide would be impractical though ;) difficult to conceal and low bullet capacity. I'd go for a Glock compact in one of the beefier calibres personally. I will put my gun knowledge back in the drawer now :p
