First official trailer arrives for Carrie: watch now

“The other kids… they think I’m weird”

The first trailer has arrived for Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie remake, featuring Chloe Moretz as the titular heroine with a very particular set of skills…

From what we’ve seen so far, it all looks remarkably similar to the Brian De Palma version, with several of that film’s most iconic scenes (the changing room, the prom night) present and correct in the trailer.

In fact, the trailer pretty much serves as a condensed version of the entire story, which isn’t so much of a problem when the tale is as well known as this one, but still seems to be giving rather a lot away.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

While there’s definitely a sensation of familiarity about the whole thing, Moretz and Julianne Moore look extremely well cast as the dysfunctional daughter-mother combo, while the climactic prom sequence doesn’t look likely to stint on blood…

Directed by Peirce and co-starring Judy Greer, Gabriella Wilde and Portia Doubleday, Carrie will open in the UK on 29 November 2013.

I imagine that is pretty much the whole movie.

Well its shown the entire bloody thing! Looks a bit melodramatic and overblown, but the prom scene should be able to be done pretty incredibly I imagine.

This film seems great so far, good acting and it looks amazing, but only one complaint. Carrie is supposed to be an outcast and a freak to the rest of the school, I know she still is in the remake, but Chloe Moretz doesn't look too much like a girl to be bullied. She's too - pretty. But that's out of her control, she is doing a great job acting as Carrie.

I really don't think Chloe Moretz suits the role. It also looks a bit like a generic, modern day horror film.

You can still be an out cast even if you are pretty! the girl is abused by her controlling mum....this would give her a very freakish personality..... nothing about looks! The Trailer does seem to give far too much away...yes we know the story but its still too much

Looks well made. Well acted. But ultimately pointless.

I reckon Moretz has great capabiliites and a great future ahead of her but involving herself in perfunctory remakes like this will not do her any favours. What we really should be seeing here is stronger characterisation instead of overblown visual effects. Very boring I'm afraid,
