First on set image from The Expendables 2

Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis buddy up

There are a few things that make TF smile. Cats shadow boxing hair dryers. McG admitting he was wrong. The word callipygian. But sometimes a picture speaks much louder than a funny word ever could.
That's the case with this first image from the set of The Expendables 2
Old pals Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger reunite once more for another blockbusting encounter.
And even though Arnie will only be filming for four days, both he and Willis will have larger roles in this sequel.
Hopefully you're smiling along with us. Throw The Stath in there dangling from that helicopter blade and we'd go so far as to grin.
The Expendables 2 opens 17 August 2012.

Happy to see the boys back together? Or would you have preferred us to write about Pedro Almodóvar's The Skin I Live In? (It was that or this). Tell us below!

Arnold's 6'2" and Bruce is 6' - so I'm guessing Sly is either standing on a box or the shoulders of a particularly obliging midget. Regardless, the only thing that could outdo this photo in terms of awesomeness is if they take another one with Chuck Norris and JCVD when they show up on set. Impossible to look at this without grinning like an idiot, anyway!

The Stath. The Stath! This obsessions with this characterless, weak, cookie cut, boring, flaccid little "actor" is mind-boggling. It took some time for Schwarnegger to start giving some really good performances, but he has delivered some brilliant movies. Stallone (Rocky the film and performance alone) and Willis also are just brilliant forces in movies. Jason Stratham? Really? I'd say it must be an English thing, but the States keep giving him work too. One good performance? Can't think of one.

Pretty sure Statham was the best thing about the first film aside from Terry Crews. Everyone slated them being in it as they weren't 'old school action' enough. Then the film came out and they were the only two with any real charisma or ability to fight without looking like they'd need a hip replacement afterwards. I'll go see the sequel but I thought the first one was pretty average, and the 'stars' with the exception of Rourke, Crews and Statham (though Willis and Arnie's cameo was pretty good) were nothing special.

Sly's face looks like a screwed up piece of red leather hung out to dry whilst Arnie looks like he's been electrocuted leaving Bruce being the only one who looks relatively normal. Wonder if it has anything to do with acting choices in life? Well giving the fact that Bruce is starring in GI Joe 2 and the title for Die Hard 5 is hilariously bad, he could look like Sly in no time. Time will tell but all around, a great nostalgic moment.

If successful films were related to what you look like, Nic Cage would resemble the picture of dorian grey's anus by now...
