First poster for Spike Lee's Oldboy

Marking time…

The first poster has arrived online for Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, and as you might expect, it's a suitably grisly affair.

The new poster is dominated by a series of bloody tally marks, presumably meant to represent the lead character's miserable time in captivity.

Josh Brolin plays said character, an advertising executive who is kidnapped out of the blue and held prisoner for twenty years, before suddenly being released without any explanation.

Once freed he is understandably thirsty for revenge, and sets about attempting to track down his captors in order to extract an explanation from them…

Directed by Lee and co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, Oldboy will open in the US on 11 October 2013, with a UK date to be confirmed. In the meantime you can check out the poster in full, below...

To be honest, that's lenient for and Advertising Exec. In many cultures they are executed.

Had he been an banker everyone would have wished for another 20 years.

wow a remake of a phenomenal film by a guy who will most likely turn the movie into a film about hating white people.

I appreciate the release date...now I know exactly when I won't go see the next movie by that racist, Spike Lee.
