Superman – coming over here to our planet and taking our jobs and our women. Parents that never paid any child support. What could be more Daily Mail?
Maybe that's why the UK newspaper has the first image of Russell Crowe as Jor-El, after capturing him on the set of Superman: Man Of Steel in Vancouver.

TF's fashion breakdown? Batman meets Harry Potter!

How's he looking? And would you be brave enough to tell him he looked pants if that's what you really thought? Tell us below!

This is ridiculous. Red cape and boots? Blue costume? lol As if just having Russell 'hissy fit' Crowe weren't bad enough...

spoonlamp - As opposed to Marlon 'hissy fit' Brando in a shiny tinfoil jumpsuit....and boots? It looks decent, fair enough crowe hasn't quite reached the hissy fit heights of Brando (the guy certainly new how to throw one)but i think he could work.

it looks like a more expanded version of the superman costume we have seen already

I never got why they sent supes to earth with a bunch of colored cloth, why not the shiny tinfoil so popular on his home world? At least this ties the two together, brings a sense of continuity between supes and his forebears.

what does the 'S' on his chess mean? Surely back on Krypton they are not Super?

The 'S' isn't actually an 'S'. despite belief it doesn't actually stand for superman. It is just their family crest which looks like an 'S'

@denmike, as Vasniki said, it is not an "S" and does not stand for Superman. It is in fact the Kryptonian symbol that represents the House of El. I do actually like the look of this though, was really sceptical at first about Russell Crowe but have to say he looks the part (minus the odd looking hair). Though i would have to say I'm not too keen on the armor looking shoulder pads. After seeing the new suit for Superman and now this I have to say that I'm actually quite looking forward to this now. I have faith in Snyder.

This for me is exactly how I imaged Superman's dad looking like! Greasy, lanky hair, three day stubble, pot belly and smoking a f*g. To a Tee.
