First trailer and poster for Magic Mike

"You are the husband they never had…"

Magic Mike, Steven Soderbergh's look at the world of male strippers, has released a first trailer, with Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey disrobing for the entertainment of a crowd of baying women.

The film follows the exploits of strip-club veteran Mike (Tatum), as he takes a young dancer known as The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing, and shows him the high life of free drinks, easy money and picking up girls. Oh, and stripping, obviously.

The first trailer isn't the all-out flesh-fest you might expect, although there are still  plenty of ripped torsos on display, including (inevitably) McConaughey's…

Take a look at the first trailer, below…

We reckon this one is looking fairly promising, with plenty of snappy dialogue and a natural central performance from Tatum. Not that that latter element should come as a surprise, given that the story is based on Tatum's own pre-stardom exploits as a male dancer.

Magic Mike opens in the UK on 13 July 2012. In the meantime, you can check out the film's first teaser poster, below…

Apart from the bit where a stripper did his back in, possibly the most boring trailer I have seen all year! But it's not aimed at me to be fair, so I'll leave it for the people who love this sort of thing.

Wow, a film where Matthew McConnaughey actually has an excuse to take his clothes off for a change. No surprise that Dalidab manage to bring his creepy w**k list of bunch of prepubescent-looking kids into proceedings though.

Er what? There's nothing wrong with Matthew McConnaughey, I like him a lot. That was a reference to Matt Damon's 'maybe we should all take our shirts off' routine on Letterman, you ignorant prick. It was a joke. Second, you have every right to express whatever you want to on these boards, but I have every right to find the fact that you seem to have a prediliction for young men who look about twelve years old highly disturbing. Yet again, I have no problem with your homosexuality, I have a problem with the fact you genuinely appear to be sexually attracted to children. I'd have issue with the same thing if you were straight and talking about actresses of the same age. You are one extremely creepy fat little middle-aged freak.

Well done genius, Tom Daley isn't 18 yet. He was barely 16 when you first started going on about him, and thats still older than some of the little boys you've bragged about wanting to sleep with. Your search history would probably keep the police busy for a decade.

TheKingofCinema - I've seen your name on the TF site quite a lot and whilst on the odd occasion I have felt sorry for you for the barrage of hate you get thrown at you, there are also times you seem to want the attention with things you say. It's obvious you enjoy film and have a knowledge imdb.com would be jealous of, but a movie website isn't really the place to talk about your sexual fantasies and nor is it for a straight person to lust after Angelina's right leg! I'm seriously not having a go at you, but try and help yourself by sticking to movie related comments :)

Here's a good tip: if you don't want abuse, don't tell complete strangers on a website about films about how you want to sleep with underage and young boys half your age.

You can take abuse? You can't even take someone having a different opinion on films to you, you hysterical nonce.

I listen to Writerdave. Intently. most of the time we don't want to listen to you Dalidab. You're constantly talk gibberish, then get all animated and upset when someone questions you. We don't want to hear how you are lusting after kids just out of school when we know you look like some balding creepy peado in waiting. Stop dribbling all over your keyboard.

Dalidab serious question, can you seriously not understand why people find you creepy? You're a tubby little bald guy approaching middle age who keeps telling total strangers how much he lusts after extremely young looking boys. That isn't normal. This isn't a homophobic thing, I don't care you're gay. None of my gay friends would ever dream of acting in the way you do, say the things you say, and then hide behind their sexuality and accuse anyone who calls them on it homophobic. News flash mate, it's not homophobia, it's the normal reaction of normal people getting told by a fat little bald creep about how much he wants to shag kids.

Considering you've already bragged about wanting to screw an under-eighteen on this very page, I think there's fat chance of that. My gay friends are perfectly true to themselves thanks. They still don't go around bragging about how much they want to shag people or how hot they think some under-18 boys are. To be honest they'd probably happily beat the s**t out of you themselves.

Are your 'friends' by any chance that group of men on the internet you trade dirty pics of little kids with? Strangely enough none of my gay mates go around telling strangers how much they want to shag boys half their age. One of them was actually accused of homophobia (We thought that was hilarious) for telling a ridiculously overcamp berk in a bar to tone it down. Might be difficult for you to believe but quite a few gay guys can go around living their lives having healthy normal relationships with guys their own age without running around shrieking and beating people over the head with their sexuality like you do.

Ever heard of the phrase 'ignore it and it'll go away'. I wanted to come and TALK ABOUT FILMS, not read all these comments. Writerdave I understand your frustration, he's a fool (that's being kind) but all it's doing is goding him on, an making things worse. The trailer: Channing Tatum seems to actually be coming out as a decent-enough actor. Even if the film itself looks quite boring, his performance looks pretty good.

Jesus H Christ... does nobody moderate these boards? @Dalidab you have the right to express your opinion and live the life you want but PLEASE stop confusing writerdave et al with the other people in your personal life who i'm sure have genuinely bullied and oppressed you. there is no need to react like this. as i have said before, people come to this site to talk about FILM and have to read this s**t which im certain puts people off from talking about film with like minded individuals. Anyway film looks c**p, but Tatum is definitely the new Wahlberg.
